The first smartphone of the Korean LG prepared for the arrival of 5G telephony allows having a second screen in the form of an optional cover.

Enjoying the full potential of 5G technology – as soon as it is available – is one of the purposes that has led LG to incorporate this proposal into its catalog for 2019. But it is not its only attraction, because this LG V50 ThinQ 5G wants to offer the consumer a completely renewed experience of use and for this has developed a double screen (Dual Screen) as an optional and additional element.

This double screen is an accessory or complement with the format of a casing that has a size of 6.2 inches and OLED technology. Ideal for work tasks and leisure time, it is combined with the terminal’s main screen (6.4 inches and 3120 x 1440 pixels resolution). In this case, both work independently but coordinated, so that, for example, the user can use one to watch a movie while using the other to, for example, perform a search on the Internet.

How does it work? When the Dual Screen is added, a small tab appears on the screen of this advanced terminal. When pressed, it lights the second screen or it is even possible to exchange the content between both. It also has a multi-window functionality that divides each one in turn in two, in such a way that it is possible to use up to four applications simultaneously. In the same way, it can be placed in two angles (one of 104º and another of 180º) and it is not necessary to load it apart from the telephone. In another order of things, the audio section includes DTS technology: X and Qualcomm aptX and aptX HD for a higher quality sound with clearer and deeper shades.

The first LG 5G device has been equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 platform which, combined with the optimized software of the Korean, allows it to provide an advanced processing capabilities. This is contributed by its 4,000 mAh battery and a new heat dissipation system called Vapor Chamber. The RAM has a size of 6 Gb and the storage capacity (128 Gb) can be extended up to 2 Terabytes with a microSD card.

Among the features available for taking pictures and videos, highlights ‘Video Depth Control’ that has been implemented in both the main and secondary cameras. Meanwhile, Dual FOV technology analyzes the distance and depth of the environment. A final detail of interest: it has exceeded military standards (MIL-STD 810G) and has IP68 resistance.

The device is based on the densest and highest performance chip system that Huawei has sold to date: the Kirin 980 chipset. Manufactured with an advanced 7-nanometer process that incorporates an advanced CPU based on Cortex-A76 and a Mali GPU. -G76, yields improved performance and smooth user experience.

Meanwhile, and taking as a reference to the foundations of the Huawei P20 camera system, the manufacturer has improved the Huawei Mate 20 series by adding an important complement: a Leica 16 mm ultra wide-angle lens. The battery has also been improved and its capacity scales up to 5,000 mAh so that the user can use it up to two days continuously. On the other hand, this ZenFone Max Pro (M2) features an advanced and high-resolution Sony dual camera sensor (IMX486) that includes Artificial Intelligence Scene Detection technology to provide sensational results in both day and night situations. Meanwhile, its phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) system eliminate moved sequences and instantly focuses on any type of subject. The secondary camera achieves the bokeh effect in portraits and enhances the subject in an artistic way. It is possible to choose between 13 different scene types.

Also striking is the presence of a triple tray that combines two SIM slots (dual SIM / dual standby) with a microSD slot that allows expanding the storage space to reach 2 Terabytes of capacity. There is also no lack of support for payments through NFC, an option that is gradually extending more and more. From the point of view of sound, its five-magnet speaker and intelligent NXP amplifier leave very good sensations for the power and level of detail offered. Finally, a comment that includes a fingerprint sensor and facial recognition system.
